We develop champion teachers to improve primary education system in South Sudan.

Only 18% of primary school teachers have had any form of teacher training.

- South Sudanese National Ministry of Education

Every year, Greenbelt Academy alumni take on primary school teaching positions in their communities. 63% of primary school teachers in the country are secondary school graduates or below. Given our rigorous academic program, our alumni are better suited to teach than most of their peers. We leverage our close relationships with our alumni to provide them with support and professional development to ensure their pupils are given the best possible educational experience.

We believe that the quality of the South Sudanese education system cannot exceed the quality of it’s teachers. Training teachers is one of the most important components of elevating the standard of education in the country.

Why Primary School Teacher Education?

South Sudan needs driven, dedicated and fully equipped teachers to improve the outcomes and long-term livelihoods of all children and families.

  • While access to education is important, we believe investments in elevating the quality of education delivered is critical. Teacher training has direct impact on the educational outcomes of students. Our program supports teachers with pedagogical understanding, improving practice, building content knowledge and more.

  • While youth unemployment rates remain alarming high, many critical social institutions in South Sudan are understaffed and underequipped. We hope to address these problems by providing high-impact career pathways for our alumni with dedicated professional development and support.

  • Education Bridge is committed to supporting systemic changes in the South Sudanese educational system. Our impact reaches far beyond our school campuses as we strive to improve educational realities for all children in the communities we serve.
